The Preparation for Independent Living program is geared towards providing older teenagers the appropriate environment to fully develop their knowledge of self-reliance and responsibility.   Skills a child would normally gain throughout their general interaction with parents must be accommodated for those children in our care to ensure they achieve an understanding of absolute independence and are taught the necessary lessons to help them achieve that independence.

Students of the PIL program participate in weekly discussions and learning labs to gain necessary knowledge covering subjects such as social interaction, job skills, home maintenance, and money management, as well as training in the following areas:

  • Healthy Lifestyle Choices
  • Personal Saftey
  • Critical Thinking
  • Decision Making
  • Responsible Leadership

  • Goal-Setting
  • Wise Use of Resources
  • Accepting Differences
  • Self-Discipline
  • Character

PathWays is our effort to provide an Independent Living opportunity for those student between the ages of 18-21 years of age who are in care. Developed with the understanding that an individual must choose their own path in life, the Pathways Independent Living Program seeks to assist a student in their connecting to resources and contacts they need to be successful, all the while allowing them to gain the experience and insight that comes from living on ones own.

A myriad of challenge faces today's youth. To ensure the students in our care are able to face those challenges and in an effort to equip those who cannot, we offer counseling.

We employ a licensed, certified counselor to address those invisible scars and silent abuses most children have who come into care. Mental health is critical for maturation into health, stable, adults. We take serious our commitment to serve our students in a way that considers their future as well as their present circumstance.
